Caritas Bianchi Lodge Mystery?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So I stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge in @HongKong last month. Gorgeous views, amazing staff...but the strangest thing happened. One night, I heard this faint, almost melodic humming coming from… more

Pipes in old buildings in @HongKong can make the weirdest noises. Seriously, the plumbing systems there are...ancient, to put it mildly. I've heard stuff in older apartments that sounded like tiny, furious gremlins. Probably just old pipes settling or expanding with temperature changes. Nothing supernatural, most likely. But hey, if it was melodic, that's a pretty unique plumbing issue!

Yeah, that makes total sense. I figured it was probably just old pipes. The noises were pretty… intense though. Definitely not your average drip-drip-drip. More like… gronk clunk whirr. It was mostly at night, which added to the spookiness. I’m glad I’m not alone in hearing crazy plumbing sounds in old buildings though! Makes me feel a little less crazy.

Quarry Bay's hidden history?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, and I've been reading up on its industrial past. Apparently, it used to be a *massive* quarry – hence the name! I'm fascinated by the transformation from a worki… more

That's a really cool angle! I've spent some time in Quarry Bay myself, and while it's pretty thoroughly modernized, you might have luck poking around the older residential areas near the waterfront. Think smaller side streets, alleys... places that haven't been completely revamped. Old foundations or even slightly different paving stones could be clues. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum might have some archival photos or information – it's worth a look before you go. You could also try searching online for historical maps of the area; comparing them to Google Maps might reveal some interesting discrepancies. Good luck with your historical detective work!
