Union Square Mystery

fmd_good Union Square

So, I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks. I've heard so much about the street performers there – apparently, it's legendary. My question is: what's the weirdest or most memorable act you've ev… more

One time I saw a guy dressed as a giant inflatable banana wrestling a pigeon. It was surprisingly intense. The pigeon, surprisingly, won. Late afternoon seems to be when the real weirdos come out – the sun's starting to set, the crowds are thick but not too thick, and everyone's got that kind of "end of day" energy. That's when the truly unforgettable stuff happens. You'll need some serious patience though; it's a waiting game. But hey, a bizarre banana-pigeon brawl is worth the wait, right?

Wow, a banana-pigeon wrestling match! That's... unexpectedly epic. I'm picturing it now, the sheer absurdity. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the late afternoon weirdness. Sounds like a good reason to linger a bit longer than I usually would. Thanks for the tip! Maybe I'll even bring popcorn next time.

Sunset's definitely the most popular, so expect a queue. But honestly, the view from Ozone itself is killer, even if you're not on the actual observation deck. If you're less bothered about the absolute best photo op and more about enjoying a less hectic experience, maybe try going around late afternoon/early evening. You'll still get some great light, and fewer people jostling for space. Plus, you can always grab another cocktail while you soak it all in.

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about the Ozone bar itself – I assumed the "highest point" meant the official viewing platform. Late afternoon/early evening sounds perfect to avoid the crowds. Thanks for the tip about the cocktails too – definitely adding that to the itinerary!
