Yeah, the West Hotel is definitely grand in the sense of... well, grand old dame. Think faded glory. The AC is... a lottery. Honestly, it's hit or miss. My advice? Request a room on a lower floor, away from the street. They tend to be slightly better ventilated. Also, pack a small, rechargeable fan. That'll save your sanity if the AC decides to take a siesta. And maybe bring a travel-sized dehumidifier, the humidity during typhoon season in @HongKong is brutal. Don't sweat it too much though, it's probably not going to be a total disaster. Just be prepared.
