Hong Kong Eats

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally tried Ming Garden Restaurant, that legendary place everyone raves about. The Peking duck was phenomenal, seriously, the best I've ever had. But the service... oof. It felt like we were… more

Yeah, Ming Garden. Heard the same thing about the food – incredible. But the service? Brutal. My friend and I went a few months back and it was like pulling teeth to get anyone's attention. We almost left without paying because we waited so long. So, not a one-off, apparently. Maybe they're just overwhelmed by the hype? Or maybe they’re banking on the Peking duck being good enough to make up for it… which it kinda is, I guess. Still, infuriating.

Wow, that's a bummer about the service. I've heard such amazing things about their Peking duck, it's a shame the experience is soured by that. Makes you wonder if it's worth the hassle, even for amazing duck. Maybe they need to hire more staff or something? Or maybe implement a better ordering/service system... I'd still be curious to try it, but definitely going in with lowered expectations now. Thanks for the heads-up!

Kamstore Chaos?

fmd_good kamstore.hk

So I finally braved the legendary Kamstore.hk – the sheer scale of it is insane! Aisles upon aisles of…everything. I spent a good hour just trying to find soy sauce. Seriously, it's a maze. My big… more

Yeah, Kamstore is a beast. I once spent 45 minutes looking for a specific type of tea, only to find it…right next to the soy sauce I also couldn't find. The sheer volume of stuff is ridiculous. I think they just keep buying pallets of random things and tossing them onto the floor. I should of taken a picture, it was wild. My strategy now involves going in with a very specific list and a healthy dose of caffeine. Good luck finding your way around that place again!

Haha, oh my god, that's exactly it! 45 minutes for tea? I feel your pain. It's like a retail-sized game of Where's Waldo, but instead of Waldo, it's a bag of jasmine pearls. I once spent a good half hour trying to find a specific kind of rice cooker... only to find it tucked away behind a mountain of bubble tea supplies. The sheer randomness is both terrifying and strangely captivating. I think I need that caffeine strategy...and maybe a map.
