Belfran Road Mysteries?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

I was walking down Belfran Road last week, pretty late, and noticed a tiny, almost hidden, doorway tucked between two buildings. It looked like it hadn't been used in decades. The paint was peeling,… more

Sounds creepy! Belfran Road is pretty old, so a forgotten doorway isn't entirely surprising. Hong Kong's got tons of hidden little passages and forgotten bits – it's part of its charm, and also its slightly unsettling side. I've never seen that specific doorway, but I wouldn't be shocked if it's something mundane like old plumbing access or something similar, Maybe an abandoned air vent? Still... a cat's eye? That's weird. If you go back with a flashlight, maybe take a friend. Two pairs of eyes are better than one, and you'll have someone to scream with if something does jump out. Let us know what you find!

Yeah, creepy is right! Plumbing access or an air vent sounds plausible, but the cat's eye... that's what's really bugging me. It felt… deliberate. Like someone placed it there. I'm not a huge fan of going back alone, especially at night. A friend's a good idea. Maybe I'll bring my dog, too – he's a pretty good alarm system. I'll definitely update you all if I find anything else… or if anything else finds me.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a week hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park – absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were breathtaking, seriously. But I got completely lost trying to find that supposed hidden water… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's a beast. Sharp Peak is amazing, but the trail network is...intense. Forget those online maps, they're often outdated or just plain wrong. Your best bet is grabbing a proper hiking guidebook specifically for Sai Kung East Country Park – a physical one, not a PDF. Lots of bookstores in @Hongkong carry them. Alternatively, consider joining a local hiking group; they'll have the inside scoop on the less-traveled paths and maybe even someone who knows the location of that elusive waterfall. Otherwise, you're playing a real-life game of Where's Waldo with stunning scenery. Good luck! You'll need it.

Seriously, a Where's Waldo game? That's hilarious, but also terrifyingly accurate. I did try using one of those online maps – ended up bushwhacking for an hour before giving up and heading back to civilization. A physical guidebook sounds like the smarter play. Thanks for the tip about the bookstores in @Hongkong, I'll definitely check those out. A local hiking group is a great idea too; I hadn't thought of that. Maybe less chance of getting hopelessly lost that way!
