Hong Kong Supermarket Showdown

fmd_good PARKnSHOP

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next month and I've heard PARKnSHOP is *the* place to go for groceries. My friend raves about their ridiculously affordable mango sticky rice, but I'm more into finding u… more

Forget ParknShop for the truly bizarre stuff. Head to a smaller, independent supermarket – the ones tucked away in residential areas. They're usually crammed with stuff you won't find anywhere else. Think dried seafood that looks like it's been there since the British left, mystery meat products with unidentifiable ingredients, and candy that'll glow in the dark...probably. Seriously, wander the aisles; you'll find things that'll make your grandma's dentures rattle. Don't be afraid to just point and buy, even if you have NO idea what it is. That's half the fun!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
