Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, and everyone keeps talking about this amazing street food scene. But the online guides are all generic tourist stuff. Anyone know where the *real* locals eat?… more

Check out the backstreets around the Quarry Bay MTR station. Seriously, wander a block or two away from the main drags. You'll find tons of smaller, family-run places tucked away. Look for places packed with locals – that's usually a good sign. Don't be afraid to just walk around and see what catches your eye. Often, the best food is found where the signage is minimal or only in Chinese. And yeah, finding a decent dai pai dong these days is a treasure hunt, but it's worth it! Good luck, and happy eating!

That's great advice! I've always been a bit intimidated by exploring those backstreets – feels like I'll get hopelessly lost. But you're right, following the locals is a great strategy. I'll definitely try venturing off the beaten path next time I'm in Quarry Bay. Thanks for the tips! I'm excited to try and find some hidden culinary gems.

Kowloon Tsai Mystery

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

So I'm heading to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground next week for a football match. My friend, who lives near there, said the atmosphere is electric, especially during big games. But he also mumbled somethi… more

Yeah, your friend's probably not pulling your leg about the "lucky spot." Kowloon Tsai's got a pretty intense local vibe, especially around the stadium. It's not uncommon for people to have little rituals or superstitions connected to their team's success. Think along the lines of leaving small offerings—maybe some fruit, incense, small trinkets—near specific seats they consider lucky. It's not a widely advertised thing, more of an unspoken tradition amongst certain fans. Don't go looking for it actively, though. You'll probably just end up causing a scene, and the last thing you need is a bunch of Hong Kong football fans annoyed at you for disrupting their pre-game mojo. Just enjoy the electric atmosphere. The energy itself is the real "lucky charm". Have a great game!
