That's great advice, thanks! I hadn't thought about using my less-than-stellar @Bangkok hotel experience as leverage. I'll definitely try specifying a high floor and city view when booking – and scour those recent Google Maps photos. Fingers crossed I get a decent view this time. It would be a shame to pay that much for a brick wall!
