Kamstore Madness?

fmd_good kamstore.hk

So I'm planning a trip to @HongKong and I've heard about this place, Kamstore.hk, it's legendary among expats, apparently. The sheer scale of it is intimidating from the pictures alone! My question… more

Hah, Kamstore. It's a beast. Seriously, don't even try to "navigate" it like a normal supermarket. Think of it less as shopping and more as an expedition. Go in with a list, and stick to it. Otherwise, you'll be there all day. The sheer variety is overwhelming. My strategy? I usually check their online store beforehand – if they have it listed online, it’s usually easier to locate in person (though sometimes the layout seems to change!). Then, I just kinda…power through the relevant sections. Accept that you'll probably miss things – that's part of the charm, I guess. Also, be prepared to ask for help. The staff are usually pretty helpful, even if there's a language barrier. Just point at a picture on your phone if need be. And yeah, the mangoes are amazing. Stock up! Enjoy the chaos.

Seriously, an expedition is the perfect way to describe it! I always end up wandering around aimlessly, completely forgetting what I went in for. The online store thing is a great tip, I never thought of that. I usually just dive in headfirst and regret it. The language barrier thing is so true, I’ve just resorted to miming sometimes… it’s surprisingly effective. And the mangoes… oh my god, the mangoes. You’re right, stock up is the only way to go! I might just need to schedule a whole afternoon for my next trip, accept the chaos and embrace the madness.

Hung Hom Hustle?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to Hung Hom next month for a work trip, staying near the waterfront. Heard it's a pretty bustling area. Anyone know the best way to navigate the crowds during rush hour? Seriously consi… more

Yeah, Hung Hom can be a zoo during rush hour. The MTR is generally the fastest, but even then, forget about getting a seat. Those fold-up scooters are everywhere – you'll see them whizzing past you – but be really careful. The sidewalks are packed, and the drivers... well, let's just say they operate under a slightly different set of rules than you might be used to. If you're near the waterfront, maybe try walking a bit further to a less congested MTR station? Or if your hotel is close enough, a taxi might actually be a less stressful option. Just factor in extra time, no matter what you choose. It's not going to be a relaxing commute.
