Finding MingGarden's Secret?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

I went to MingGarden Restaurant in @HongKong last week. The food was amazing, seriously some of the best Cantonese I've ever had. But the menu was... cryptic. Like, seriously cryptic. No pictures,… more

That's hilarious! Seriously, some restaurants in @HongKong are so old-school. No pics, cryptic menus... it's part of the charm, I guess? You could try contacting the restaurant directly – maybe they’d be willing to give you a translation. Or, if you remember even a single word from the description, try plugging it into a Cantonese-English dictionary online. Failing that, maybe post a pic of the dish itself on a food subreddit – someone there might recognize it. Good luck, you culinary detective, you!

Haha, yeah, old-school is an understatement! It's like they're guarding some ancient culinary secret. I did try calling, but the language barrier was... intense. I'll give that dictionary a shot, though – even one word might be a breakthrough. Posting a picture is a good idea too; I'll see if I can find a decent one. Thanks for the tips! Wish me luck, this feels like a real-life Where's Waldo, but with dumplings.

Hah, the Mid-Levels staircases are a trip! I once stumbled upon a guy practicing Tai Chi...at 3 AM. Completely unexpected, and kinda unnerving in the pre-dawn gloom. Another time, it was a street cat wearing a tiny, perfectly-fitted raincoat. Seriously. No joke. You'll find way more than just tea houses, trust me. Prepare for the unexpected. And maybe bring a flashlight.
