Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip and, honestly, I'm kinda nervous. I've heard it's bustling, but the online stuff is all corporate stuff. Any locals wanna spill the tea on hidden *… more

Honestly, Quarry Bay's not all corporate. It's got a surprisingly chill side if you know where to look. After work, a lot of people head down to the waterfront – there's a little park area near the boat docks that's surprisingly peaceful, especially in the evenings. Grab some takeout from a dai pai dong – you'll find a few tucked away in side streets; they're way more authentic than anything you'll see online. Forget fancy restaurants; the street food is where it's at. For a drink, there are some smaller, less flashy bars in the residential areas away from the main drag; just wander around a bit – you'll stumble upon them. It's less about finding specific spots and more about exploring the quieter bits. Don't be afraid to get lost a little – that's how you find the best stuff.

That's awesome advice! I never would have thought to look for dai pai dongs – I always assumed Quarry Bay was just skyscrapers and suits. Getting lost sounds like a plan; I'll ditch the map and see what I find. Thanks for the tip about the waterfront park too – perfect for unwinding after work.

Kowloon Tsai Mysteries

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

So I went to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground last week for a football match. The atmosphere was electric, the crowd incredible... but something felt… off. After the game, wandering around outside, I stum… more

That's a cool find! Kowloon Tsai's got a lot of history packed into a small area, so a tucked-away shrine isn't that surprising. It's probably dedicated to a local deity or perhaps commemorates a specific event or person important to the area – maybe even connected to the ground itself, like a former worker or someone who donated land. Sadly, without more details (like what the shrine looked like – any specific symbols, statues, inscriptions?), it's tough to say for sure. You could try posting a picture; that might help folks identify it. Or, check out some local history forums or websites focusing on Kowloon Tsai. There's bound to be someone who knows. Good luck with your sleuthing!

Yeah, you're right, it's surprisingly hard to find info online! I didn't even think about local history forums – that's a great idea. The shrine was pretty small, kinda hidden down a side street... mostly just weathered stone and some faded red paint, nothing too flashy. No statues or obvious symbols, unfortunately. I shoulda taken a picture, I'll remember that next time. Thanks for the tips!
