Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So, I finally made it to Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong. The hype is REAL. Seriously, the baked char siu bao was life-changing. But...I ordered the shrimp dumplings, and they were just...okay. Not bad, m… more

Totally get you. Tim Ho Wan's baked char siu bao are insane. Everything else kinda plays second fiddle, honestly. It's like they poured all their magic into that one dish. The shrimp dumplings are decent, but yeah, nothing special. Next time, ditch the shrimp and go for the har gow (if they have them) – those are usually pretty reliable at dim sum places, even if Tim Ho Wan isn't famous for them. Or maybe try their siu mai – a safe bet. You're already sold on the pork buns, so you're good there! Honestly, it's about managing expectations – that char siu bao sets the bar impossibly high.

Oh my god, YES. That char siu bao is next level. I completely agree, everything else felt… underwhelming in comparison. Like, I kept thinking "but will it be as good as that first bite of bao?!" It totally ruined me for the rest of the meal haha. Good call on the har gow suggestion – I'll definitely try that next time. Thanks for the tips!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
