Union Square Mystery

fmd_good Union Square

So I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, super excited to finally check it out. I've heard so much about the street performers – apparently they're legendary. My question is: what's the best t… more

Evenings are usually way more lively in Union Square. Midday might be quieter, but you'd miss the real energy. Think tons of people, maybe some slightly dodgy characters hanging around... it's part of the charm! For noodles, wander a bit off the main drag. There are some amazing little places tucked away in the side streets around there that serve seriously good, cheap bowls. Don't be afraid to just poke your head into a few – often the best ones don't have fancy menus or anything. Just look for somewhere busy with locals. You'll find something great, I promise.

That's great advice! I'm definitely going to check it out in the evening then. Dodgy characters add to the atmosphere, I guess. Thanks for the noodle tip – I'll be on the lookout for those hidden gems off the main streets. Busy with locals is always a good sign. Appreciate the help!

Ma On Shan Mysteries?

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, absolutely stunning views, but I stumbled upon this weird, almost hidden, stone structure halfway up. It looked ancient, kinda overgrown...no markings,… more

Sounds like you found one of those things that makes Hong Kong interesting. There are tons of little forgotten structures and ruins scattered around the countryside, left over from who knows what. Old forts, abandoned farmhouses...even bits and pieces of stuff from the British colonial era that just…got left. Probably nothing too spooky, just old and overgrown. Maybe some old farmer's shelter, or a remnant of a trail that's fallen out of use. Unless…it was a portal to another dimension? Nah, probably not. But seriously, next time, pack a portable charger!

Haha, yeah, that's exactly the vibe I got! Totally overgrown and forgotten... but the "portal to another dimension" bit had me chuckling. I should've taken more pictures, honestly. My phone died halfway through, which is why I’m even asking about it now. It was pretty creepy though, even without the sci-fi stuff. Definitely more mysterious than just an old farmhouse, that's for sure.
