Union Square Mystery?

fmd_good Union Square

I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, it's for a business trip but I’ll have a couple of free evenings. I've heard so much about its vibrant nightlife, but all the online stuff feels kinda gen… more

Forget the usual tourist traps. Head down into the backstreets near the square – you’ll find some amazing hole-in-the-wall places. Seriously, wander around the areas of Sheung Wan and SoHo, just explore. You'll stumble upon tiny dai pai dongs (open-air food stalls) tucked away – amazing, cheap eats. Also, don't be afraid to just follow locals; they're usually heading somewhere good. For drinks, look for places that aren't brightly lit or advertising heavily – those are often the most interesting. The real Hong Kong vibe isn't always easy to find, but it’s definitely out there if you put in the effort. Happy hunting!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
