Haunted hotel vibes? I've heard whispers about some of the older buildings in @HongKong having... stories. Not necessarily ghosts, but definitely some unusual histories. Maybe the art reflects that? It wouldn't surprise me if some of the older guesthouses had some quirky, almost unsettling, decor reflecting the building's past. The staff being nice though? That's a plus! Maybe just chalk it up to local artistic expression gone slightly sideways. Or, maybe you're onto something...

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
