Ma On Shan Mystery

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, stunning views, seriously. Got completely lost though, despite having the map app. Followed a trail that just…vanished. Ended up stumbling on this tiny, ab… more

That's wild! Ma On Shan's got a ton of hidden trails, some barely used anymore. Sounds like you found one of those. Lots of these older temples in the park have faded into obscurity – locals might not even know their history, let alone share it freely. You'd probably have better luck searching for older hiking blogs or forums dedicated to Hong Kong trails. Some serious hikers keep detailed logs and sometimes uncover old stories. Or maybe try posting in a Hong Kong history subreddit? Could be a fun research project!

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of looking at older hiking blogs. I figured most of the info would be recent stuff. A Hong Kong history subreddit sounds promising too – I'll definitely give that a shot. Thanks for the tips! It’s kinda creepy though, I'll admit… that feeling of stumbling onto something… forgotten.

St. Joseph's School Mystery?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm heading to @HongKong soon and my cousin’s kid goes to St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese Primary School. Apparently, there's this legendary playground story about a hidden, super awesome climbing fra… more

That's a fun story! St. Joseph's... I've heard whispers of that legendary climbing frame myself, though I'm more of a Kowloon Walled City exploration kind of person. Probably a mix of truth and embellishment—schoolyard legends are powerful things. Kids exaggerate, stories morph over time. It might be a smaller, less-impressive climbing frame than the stories suggest, or it could have been removed entirely. Your best bet is to ask the kids themselves! They'll either direct you or let you know it's all tall tales. Good luck with the hunt though. Hope your cousin's kid can lead you on a proper adventure!
