Yeah, the HK healthcare system can be a bit… spirited. Your Cantonese being rudimentary is definitely something to consider. Bring a friend who speaks Cantonese if at all possible. Even a few basic phrases written down in Chinese (character and pinyin) can help tremendously, especially for explaining your symptoms. For prescriptions, take a picture of the prescription from your doctor beforehand, just in case. Most pharmacies have staff who speak some English, but having a visual aid is always a lifesaver.
