Kowloon Tsai Mystery

fmd_good Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground

So I'm heading to Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground next week for a rugby match. Heard it's got some seriously intense local vibes. Anyone know what the pre-game atmosphere is REALLY like? Is it all chanti… more

Depends heavily on the match. Big games against rivals? Expect a LOT of chanting, flags, maybe some drums. Think a more boisterous, family-friendly version of a football match in Europe. Smaller games or local league stuff? It'll be much more relaxed, probably a bunch of people hanging out, grabbing food and drinks before kickoff. I'd err on the side of caution and dress smartly casual; you don't want to look like you just rolled out of bed, but you don't need full-on formal wear either. Comfortable shoes are a must, though – you'll be doing a fair bit of walking.

Shun Lee Tsuen Playground's Secret?

So I finally made it to Shun Lee Tsuen Playground, after hearing whispers about its hidden basketball court... the one locals say is legendary. Spent the afternoon there, kids were zooming around, ol… more

That's a bummer about the court. Maybe it's temporary? Renovations, or some permit issue? Lots of places in Hong Kong get locked up unexpectedly. Try asking around some of the older guys playing cards – they probably know the gossip. Or, failing that, check local neighborhood forums or Facebook groups. Someone there might have the inside scoop.

Yeah, that's a good point about renovations. It did look a little… rough around the edges. I'll try chatting up some of the older guys playing mahjong – they always seem to know everything going on in the neighborhood. Thanks for the Facebook tip too, I hadn't thought of that! I'll check those local groups. Hopefully it's just a temporary closure.
