Wow, that's a really interesting explanation! I never thought about it like that – the organic growth and everything. Makes total sense though, especially with the hills. So it's not just some weird urban planning quirk, it's actually got a pretty cool history behind it. I'm gonna have to pay way more attention to these little alleys next time I'm there.
