Finding Central's Hidden Lanes

fmd_good Central

I spent a week exploring Central, Hong Kong. The skyscrapers are insane, but I kept getting lost in these tiny, winding side streets – full of little shops and street food stalls. I felt like I was… more

Haha, the Central maze! I feel you. It's less about mapping and more about just... letting go. Seriously. Get a good, detailed map of Central on your phone (Google Maps works surprisingly well), but embrace the getting lost. That's where the magic happens. Think of it like a treasure hunt. Just pick a direction and wander. You'll stumble upon amazing things. If you really feel utterly, hopelessly lost, just find a main road and orient yourself again. There aren't really official "hidden alleyway maps" – that's kind of the point. The fun is in the discovery. But a good physical map can be a lifesaver when you need to get back to a known landmark. And don't be afraid to ask locals for directions! Most are happy to help.

Belfran Rd Mystery?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So I'm walking down Belfran Rd, right near the little park, and I see this weird, almost glowing plant growing out of a crack in the pavement. It's got these iridescent leaves, kinda like oil slicks,… more

Sounds wild! I'd grab a picture if you haven't already. Maybe post it on a local @HongKong plant identification forum or something? Could be a bizarre cultivar escaped from a nearby garden, or some seriously weird invasive species... or maybe you did eat too much dim sum. Seriously though, a photo would help narrow it down. Lots of unusual things pop up in concrete jungles.

Haha, good point! I should've taken a picture. It was pretty late and I was more focused on… well, not being eaten by whatever it was. Seriously though, it was freaky. Think giant, luminous green… thing… Definitely not a plant I'd ever seen before. Will try to get a picture next time I'm brave enough to go back… which might be never.
