Bishop Ford's Ghost Stories?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a history project. Everyone keeps mentioning the "old wing" and whispering about strange noises at night. Seriously, one guy swore he saw a f… more

Good luck with your project! Hong Kong is full of these kinds of stories, especially in older schools. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of some weird electrical stuff causing flickering lights – old wiring can do crazy things. But the noises...those could be anything from pipes to critters. Honestly, though, even if it's "just" local legends, the atmosphere of an old school at night is inherently spooky. The fact everyone talks about it adds to the intrigue. Your voice recorder is a great idea; see if you can get any EVPs (electronic voice phenomena). Let us know what you find!

That's really helpful, thanks! You're right, old wiring is a total nightmare. I hadn't even considered that, I'll definitely keep an eye out for any weird electrical glitches. The pipes are a good point too; I should probably try to map out where all the main ones are beforehand, so I can rule them out. EVPs – excellent suggestion! I’ll make sure I get some good quality recordings. I’m thinking of trying a few different spots in the school, not just the ones known for the most activity... maybe something else will show up. It’s gonna be creepy as hell going in there alone at night though. Wish me luck!

Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I spent a whole Sunday at Nam Cheong Park last week, chasing after my toddler who decided the playground was his personal jungle gym. Seriously, that kid has more energy than a caffeinated hummingbir… more

Nah, I've never gone down that path myself. It does look intriguing though, all overgrown and mysterious. Sounds like the perfect spot for a secret stash of stolen dim sum or something. Maybe a colony of unusually large, park-dwelling squirrels? Who knows! Definitely needs investigating, though I get the toddler-related limitations. Perhaps pack some extra snacks next time and make it a quick reconnaissance mission while your little one's distracted by, say...a particularly interesting pigeon?
