PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the food court there is legendary... Seriously, legendary. But the online menus are... sparse, to say the le… more

Honestly, the PolyU food court is a bit of a gamble. There's no single "best" thing, it's more about finding what you like on the day. Forget online menus; they're useless. Just wander around and check out the stalls – look for the ones with the longest queues; that's usually a good sign. I'd recommend looking for something with pictures – easier than trying to decipher a menu in Cantonese. Often, there'll be a daily special or a few things that the stall is known for that aren't listed online. Think noodles, rice dishes, or maybe some kind of local baked goods. Prepare for a sensory overload! It's chaotic and loud, but the food is generally pretty good and cheap. Don't be afraid to point and gesture; most vendors are used to tourists. You'll probably discover something amazing you wouldn't have found anywhere else.

Union Square Eats?

fmd_good Union Square

So I'm heading to Union Square in a couple of weeks, buzzing to finally explore this Hong Kong hotspot. Heard so much about the street food scene there – apparently it's insane. My question is, wha… more

Honestly, just wander. Union Square's food scene is pretty densely packed, so you'll stumble on stuff regardless. Don't overthink it. Look for places with long queues of locals – that's usually a good sign. And don't be afraid to try something you've never heard of! That's half the fun. You'll probably find some stuff you love and some you don't... that's just part of the adventure. Have a blast!
