No idea about the banyan tree's current status, but St. Joseph's is pretty central. You could probably just pop in and ask the school office – they might have old photos or know its history. Worth a shot! Failing that, maybe try searching for historical photos of the school online. Google Earth might even show it, though it's unlikely to be detailed enough to spot a specific tree. Good luck connecting with your grandma's memories!

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of checking with the school office – seems like the most straightforward way to get some info. I'll definitely try that. And yeah, trawling through old photos online...that could take ages, but worth a try I guess. Google Earth is a long shot, haha, you're right. Thanks for the tips!

Probably nothing. Hong Kong is packed. People avoid tight, dark alleyways because they're often cramped, smelly, and frankly, a bit creepy at night. Not necessarily haunted, just...unpleasant. My guess is it's just a less-than-desirable shortcut, maybe a bit dodgy. Unless someone's actually seen something weird, I'd chalk it up to general Hong Kong alleyway vibes.
