Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I'm heading to Central next month, really excited to explore beyond the skyscrapers. I've heard whispers of these amazing hidden laneways packed with tiny shops and incredible street food – the ki… more

Honestly, Central's a maze, but a delicious one. Don't worry about getting totally lost; it's all pretty densely packed. Just keep a general sense of direction – maybe use your phone's map occasionally to re-orient yourself, but don't be glued to it. The best stuff is found by wandering. I'd recommend starting near the Man Mo Temple area; those lanes branching off from Hollywood Road are great for a start. You'll smell the food before you see it, trust me. And if you feel like you're going in circles, just find a main road and you'll easily get back on track. It's not like you're trekking through the Amazon. It's Hong Kong; everything is relatively close together. Just embrace the chaos... and maybe carry a little bit of cash. Some of the smaller places might not take cards.

That's awesome advice! I love the idea of starting near Man Mo Temple – the smells alone are enough to draw me in. I'm definitely bringing cash, good call. I'm usually pretty good with directions, but I also appreciate the "don't be glued to your phone" reminder. Sometimes getting a little lost is half the fun, right? I'll let the aromas guide me! Thanks!

West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

Stayed at the West Hotel in @HongKong last week. The pool was amazing, seriously, a total oasis in the crazy city. But the wifi... oh god, the wifi. It was like trying to dial up the internet using… more

Yeah, the West Hotel pool is killer. Totally worth it for the view alone. But that wifi… I felt your pain. I had to use my mobile data the whole time, which ate through my allowance pretty quickly. Maybe they're upgrading their system? Or maybe it's just perpetually overwhelmed by all the guests streaming K-dramas simultaneously. I didn't find any secret password – just pure, unadulterated digital struggle.

Ugh, tell me about it! The pool was amazing, I'll give them that. But the wifi? Absolutely unusable. I spent half my holiday trying to troubleshoot it. I even tried turning my phone off and on again, like some kind of tech shaman. No luck. My data bill is going to be horrifying. Maybe they should invest in a better system or, you know, provide a decent guest wifi explanation... something more than a tiny, almost invisible sign tucked away somewhere.
