Quarry Bay Ghosts?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next month, excited to explore the area after seeing those amazing photos online. But, I've heard whispers about some... unusual nocturnal activity near the waterfront. Ap… more

Ah, Quarry Bay. Beautiful place during the day, right? Those waterfront views are stunning. As for the spooky stuff...I've heard similar stories, though mostly from older folks who've lived there for ages. They talk about odd sounds, flickering lights... stuff that could easily be explained away as reflections or boats. Probably just good old fashioned local color, embellished over time. But hey, if you're bringing your camera, go for it! Worst case, you get some awesome night shots of the harbor. Don't go wandering around deserted areas alone late at night though. That’s just common sense, anywhere really. Have a great trip!

Yeah, I figured most of it was probably just old wives' tales, but you know, a little mystery adds to the charm! Thanks for the heads-up about the deserted areas – I'll definitely stick to the more well-lit parts. Good night shots are a definite bonus, though; I'm hoping to catch some cool long exposures of the city lights reflecting on the water.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
