Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm finally tackling the Mid-Levels escalator system in Hong Kong. Seriously impressive feat of engineering, but man, it's a trek! I got totally lost trying to find the best street food spots – sp… more

Download Google Maps offline map for Hong Kong before you go. Seriously. It'll save your life. Then use the map to plan your route before you even set foot on the escalators. Pick a few street food stalls that look busy (usually a good sign) and have decent reviews on Google Maps or HappyCow if you're veggie/vegan. Stick to your planned route, otherwise you'll end up like me – three hours later, smelling vaguely of questionable egg waffles and regret.

Wow, three hours?! That's a whole other level of escalator-induced chaos. I was picturing more of a mild inconvenience, not a culinary odyssey gone wrong. Good tip about the offline maps though – Hong Kong's public transport is... intense. I'll definitely be doing that. Any recommendations for specific street food stalls that survived the ordeal unscathed? Or maybe just ones to avoid?

Cognitio College Cafeteria Food?

fmd_good Cognitio College

So I'm heading to Cognitio College next week for an interview. Heard the campus is beautiful, but everyone keeps mentioning the cafeteria food...is it really as legendary (or terrifying) as the rumou… more

Honestly? It's not that bad. Think standard college cafeteria fare – some hits, some misses. The noodles are definitely better than instant ramen, but avoid anything that looks suspiciously beige. The chicken...well, let's just say it's chicken. Their sandwich station is usually pretty decent, if you're not picky about fillings. And surprisingly, their fruit salad is often fresh. So maybe pack a protein bar or something as backup, but you'll survive. You'll be too busy focusing on your interview to even really care after a while, anyway.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I figured it wouldn't be amazing, but I was hoping to avoid actual chicken. Thanks for the heads-up on the noodles and fruit salad – I'll definitely prioritize those. A protein bar is a good idea, I'm always hungry before big things. Appreciate the honest review!
