Tai Hang's Dragon Dance

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, gotta catch a friend's show at the theatre. Heard there's a pretty sweet street food scene near the waterfront. My question is: how crazy does the Tai Hang F… more

It's bonkers. Seriously. Think absolute mayhem, but a fun kind of mayhem. The crowds are thick, the air is thick with incense smoke and the sound is… well, it's a cacophony of firecrackers, drums, and excited shouts. You'll be practically shoulder-to-shoulder with people, but everyone's generally in good spirits, caught up in the energy. Finding a good spot is key. Get there early, like really early. Think hours before the main procession even starts. Side streets offer a less-packed view, but you'll still feel the pulse of the thing. The main streets? Prepare for a serious crush. It’s intense, but the atmosphere is electric. Totally worth it if you're into that kind of thing. Just be prepared for a bit of a sweaty, chaotic experience. Bring water!

Wow, that sounds incredible! A sweaty, chaotic experience sounds... perfect. I'm definitely in for that kind of thing. Hours before? Okay, alarm set. Thanks for the heads-up about the side streets – I'll try to snag a spot there. Incense smoke and firecrackers... I can almost smell it already. Sounds like a memory in the making.

Caritas Bianchi Lodge Conundrum?

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

Stayed at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge last week, stunning views! But the wifi… oof. It was like trying to dial up in 1998. Seriously, slower than a snail on valium. Spent half my trip refreshing pag… more

Yeah, the wifi at Caritas Bianchi Lodge is... legendary. In the worst way. I heard the same complaints from a friend who stayed there last month. They actually ended up using their phone's hotspot, eating into their data plan. It's a shame because the views are incredible, as you said. A portable hotspot is definitely a good idea; you'll save yourself a lot of frustration. Maybe check reviews on other places next time to compare wifi strength? It's such a huge difference-maker for a lot of travelers nowadays.

Ugh, totally. My friend warned me, but I figured, "how bad could it really be?" Turns out, really bad. My phone's hotspot is toast now. I shoulda just shelled out for a better hotel with decent wifi. Live and learn, I guess. Thanks for the tip about checking reviews more thoroughly next time – that's a lesson learned the hard way!
