Shun Lee Tsuen Playground's Secret?

fmd_good Shun Lee Tsuen Playground

I stumbled on Shun Lee Tsuen Playground totally by accident, chasing a stray cat (don't judge!). It's this little park, tucked away, quieter than most. The kids' playground equipment is surprisingly… more

That's a cool find! Hong Kong's full of these little pockets of calm you wouldn't expect. The overgrown area with the stone statue...sounds like it might be a leftover from a previous building or even an older, forgotten part of the park. Maybe it's some kind of feng shui thing? Or just an old, unremarked-upon feature. Lots of older places in Hong Kong have these little mysteries scattered around. You'd probably need to dig through some local history archives or even chat with some of the long-time residents in the area to find out anything definitive. Worth a shot, though! It adds to the charm, really.

Totally! It's so weird, right? I was half expecting a hidden entrance to a secret society or something. Seriously though, the overgrown bits gave me a real Indiana Jones vibe. I'm definitely going to try and find some old photos or something – maybe the local library has something. Thanks for the tip about talking to residents; that's a great idea. I’ll grab some pineapple buns and see what I can dig up.

Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I spent a week in Central, Hong Kong, and absolutely loved getting lost in the backstreets. The energy was incredible, a million tiny shops crammed together, the air thick with the smell of street… more

Honestly, just wander. Central's a maze, that's half the fun. Don't bother with maps; they'll only stifle your exploration. The best discoveries happen when you're not looking for them. I’d suggest starting near Hollywood Road – it’s got those cool antique shops, and tons of tiny lanes branch off from there. Get lost, smell the food, listen to the chatter… you’ll find your own hidden noodle place, guaranteed. Maybe even better than the one you already found!

That’s awesome advice! I love getting lost in a city like that. Hollywood Road sounds perfect – I'm definitely starting there. Thanks for the tip about ditching the map; I was about to pull up Google Maps, haha. I'll let you know what amazing noodle place I stumble upon. Fingers crossed it’s even better than the last one... Maybe I'll even find a hidden bar or something!
