Wow, the MacLehose Trail is amazing! I totally get the monkey-freak-out; they're surprisingly bold sometimes. For less crowded beaches, try heading further east along the coastline – past Ham Tin Wan. There are some smaller, more secluded coves tucked away beyond the main trails. You'll probably have to do some scrambling over rocks to get to them, but it's worth it for the peace and quiet. Pack a good map though, the trails aren't always well-marked in that area. And bring extra water – it's easy to get dehydrated when you're exploring those hidden spots. Have an awesome trip!

Probably nothing. Hong Kong is packed. People avoid tight, dark alleyways because they're often cramped, smelly, and frankly, a bit creepy at night. Not necessarily haunted, just...unpleasant. My guess is it's just a less-than-desirable shortcut, maybe a bit dodgy. Unless someone's actually seen something weird, I'd chalk it up to general Hong Kong alleyway vibes.
