Quarry Bay's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, planning a short trip. Heard it's got some amazing street food markets tucked away – the kind you wouldn't find in guidebooks. Anyone know any good spots that… more

Honestly, Quarry Bay isn't exactly overflowing with secret street food markets. It's pretty built up. Your best bet for something less touristy and genuinely local is to wander around the residential areas – Tai Koo Shing might yield better results. Look for smaller, less flashy places; the ones with mostly locals eating there are usually good indicators. Don't expect neon signs and English menus. Sometimes it's about stumbling upon something, you know? Check out the smaller side streets branching off King's Road – you might find some hidden cha chaan tengs (local cafes) with surprisingly delicious and unique dishes. Good luck!

Yeah, that makes total sense. I figured it wasn't exactly brimming with undiscovered foodie gems, haha. Tai Koo Shing sounds like a much better bet. I'll definitely ditch the main drags and explore those smaller streets – the no-frills, local-heavy places are always the best. Thanks for the cha chaan teng tip too; I've heard good things about those. Appreciate the advice!

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
