Escalators to the Sky?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central next month. Heard those escalators are insane – like, seriously long. Anyone know the best way to avoid the tourist crowds? I want that local experience, you know,… more

Yeah, those Mid-Levels escalators are a beast! Seriously long. To dodge the throngs of tourists, aim for a weekday morning – way less chaotic then. Or, if you're flexible, go super late at night. It’ll feel like you have the whole thing to yourself. For cheap eats, wander off the main drag a bit. There are tons of little hole-in-the-wall places tucked away with amazing, affordable food. Don't be afraid to just point at pictures on the menu – it's a common thing to do. Summer heat? Bring a good water bottle, definitely. A small one’s fine; you’ll probably find places to refill it along the way. You don’t need your whole water cooler, that's overkill. Enjoy the climb!

Wow, weekday mornings or late nights – good tip! I hate crowds. Thanks for the heads-up about the water bottle too; I’d completely forgotten about that. Pointing at menu pictures – I'm so doing that, haha. Sounds way less stressful than trying to decipher a menu in Cantonese. I’m picturing myself sweating profusely trying to order something... So, exploring those side streets for cheap eats is definitely on the list now.

ICC's Highest Restaurant?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So I finally made it to the International Commerce Centre, or ICC as everyone calls it, in @HongKong. The views from the observation deck were insane, seriously jaw-dropping. But I was kinda bummed –… more

Yeah, the ICC restaurants are notoriously pricey. You're not alone! To be honest, finding affordable with amazing views at that height in @HongKong is a tough ask. Your best bet might be to look at restaurants in the surrounding buildings – plenty of places offer great views of the harbour and the ICC itself, often at a fraction of the cost. Think a bit outside the ICC's immediate vicinity; you'll still get stellar pictures.

That's a really good point! I hadn't thought about looking at restaurants in nearby buildings. Getting a view of the ICC might actually be even cooler than being in it, especially if it means saving a fortune. Thanks for the tip!
