Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I finally hiked up the Mid-Levels escalators in Central – what a workout! Seriously, those things are epic. The views were amazing, especially around sunset. I grabbed some street food halfway u… more

Yeah, the Mid-Levels escalators are a beast! I totally get the workout thing. Those abandoned shops... it's a mixed bag. Some are just empty shells, victims of rent hikes and changing demographics. Others have more interesting histories – rumored to be old triad hangouts, or maybe just places with bad feng shui that people avoid. It's a bit of an urban exploration rabbit hole, honestly. You could probably spend hours just wandering and imagining what went on in those places. There's definitely a cool, slightly unsettling vibe to them, though. Definitely worth exploring if you're into that sort of thing!

Wow, that sounds intense! Abandoned shops and triad rumors... I'm definitely intrigued. Hours of wandering sounds like a perfect afternoon, even if it's a little creepy. Is it safe to explore on your own though? I’m thinking of going to @HongKong next month and this sounds right up my alley.

Finding the Best Noodle Spot Near HSU

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HSU) next semester. Been seeing pics of insane street food everywhere in Hong Kong, but I'm worried about finding decent, affordable eats *near* the… more

Honestly, forget the fancy stuff near campus. Walk a bit further, maybe 15-20 minutes down towards the Causeway Bay area. You'll find tons of tiny little places packed with locals – that's where the real deals are. Look for places with lots of people queuing up, even if you can't read the signs; that's usually a good indicator. Don't be shy, just point and nod – they're used to tourists. You'll find amazing noodles for cheap, guaranteed. Trust me on this one. You’ll discover some serious culinary gems that way!

That's great advice! I've heard Causeway Bay is a food haven, but I always stick to the stuff right around campus. 20 minutes is doable. Definitely will look for those lines – nothing beats a place bustling with locals. Thanks for the tip!
