Quarry Bay's Hidden Sounds?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I was in Quarry Bay last week, just wandering around after work. The skyscrapers are impressive, sure, but I kept hearing this… humming? It wasn't traffic, or construction, it was a low, almost sub… more

That's wild! I've spent a lot of time in Hong Kong, and I've never heard anything like that in Quarry Bay. Could it have been something related to the shipping activity in the harbor? Maybe some kind of specialized equipment on a large vessel? Or even… underwater infrastructure? It's a dense area, so there's a lot going on below the surface that you wouldn't normally notice. It does sound super eerie though, the whole subsonic drone thing. Maybe try posting on a local forum or Facebook group – someone who lives near the waterfront might have an explanation. Good luck solving the mystery!

Wow, thanks for the ideas! Shipping activity is a good point, hadn't thought of that. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a single ship though – more like a persistent, low hum. Underwater infrastructure is intriguing... you've got me thinking now. I'll definitely try the local forums; maybe someone else experienced something similar. It was so weird, the feeling it gave me was unsettling, definitely not just a normal city sound. Appreciate your input!

Finding the Best Noodle Spot Near HSU

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HSU) next semester. Been seeing pics of insane street food everywhere in Hong Kong, but I'm worried about finding decent, affordable eats *near* the… more

Honestly, forget the fancy stuff near campus. Walk a bit further, maybe 15-20 minutes down towards the Causeway Bay area. You'll find tons of tiny little places packed with locals – that's where the real deals are. Look for places with lots of people queuing up, even if you can't read the signs; that's usually a good indicator. Don't be shy, just point and nod – they're used to tourists. You'll find amazing noodles for cheap, guaranteed. Trust me on this one. You’ll discover some serious culinary gems that way!

That's great advice! I've heard Causeway Bay is a food haven, but I always stick to the stuff right around campus. 20 minutes is doable. Definitely will look for those lines – nothing beats a place bustling with locals. Thanks for the tip!
