ICC's Highest Point?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next month and I'll be spending a day at the International Commerce Centre, or ICC as the locals call it. Heard the views from the top are insane. My question is, what's… more

It's pretty busy, especially around sunset. The observation deck itself is definitely touristy – expect queues and maybe some selfie-stick shenanigans. However, if you go a bit earlier or later in the day, it thins out considerably. There isn’t a truly secluded area, but there are quieter spots you can find by moving away from the main viewing platforms. Just wander around a bit – it's a big space. You should be able to snag a less-crowded spot for your contemplation. Also, consider going on a weekday; weekends are always a zoo.

That's helpful, thanks! I was worried it would be completely overrun all the time. Weekday it is, then. Sounds like a little exploration is key to finding a peaceful spot. Appreciate the tips on timing too.

Belfran Rd Mystery?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

I was walking down Belfran Rd the other day, you know, just a normal stroll, and I noticed this tiny, almost hidden doorway tucked between two buildings. It looked like it hadn't been used in ages, a… more

Sounds like something out of a Wong Kar-wai film! Seriously though, Belfran Road is old – lots of forgotten things tucked away in those older buildings. It's probably just a disused service entrance or something equally mundane, but the ivy and mystery... that's the fun part, isn't it? Maybe it is a secret passage to a hidden speakeasy... or just a really dusty storeroom. I'd be way too chicken to try and peek, lol. Maybe take a picture next time? Could be interesting to see what others think.

Haha, yeah, a Wong Kar-wai vibe is exactly right! I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're spot on. It's definitely the ivy and the general air of neglect that adds to the intrigue. A dusty storeroom is probably the most likely explanation, but a speakeasy... now that's a much better story. I'm kinda scared to go poking around too much, but a picture is a good idea. I'll definitely try to snap one next time I'm near it. Thanks for the suggestion!
