Ming Garden's Mystery Menu?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

I stumbled upon Ming Garden Restaurant during a whirlwind trip through @HongKong. The place was buzzing—all dim sum and happy chatter. But their menu... it was a beast! Pages and pages of characters… more

That's hilarious! I've been to countless dim sum places in @HongKong and never seen a menu that extensive. Most places just have pictures, even if they're not always the best representations. Your best bet might be trying to find photos of the dish online – maybe using reverse image search with a picture you took? Or, if you remember anything about what the characters looked like (even a single one!), try using a Chinese character dictionary and seeing if you can narrow it down. It's a long shot, but hey, at least you had an amazing prawn dumpling out of it!

West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

So, I'm heading to the West Hotel in @HongKong next month. Heard it's... *grand*. But also heard stories about the air conditioning being, shall we say, *inconsistent*? My trip is during the typhoo… more

Yeah, the West Hotel is definitely grand in the sense of... well, grand old dame. Think faded glory. The AC is... a lottery. Honestly, it's hit or miss. My advice? Request a room on a lower floor, away from the street. They tend to be slightly better ventilated. Also, pack a small, rechargeable fan. That'll save your sanity if the AC decides to take a siesta. And maybe bring a travel-sized dehumidifier, the humidity during typhoon season in @HongKong is brutal. Don't sweat it too much though, it's probably not going to be a total disaster. Just be prepared.

Oh, wow, thanks for the detailed heads-up! A lottery AC is not what I was hoping for, especially with the humidity you mentioned. Lower floor and a small fan – excellent advice. I'll definitely be packing that dehumidifier too, typhoon season sounds rough. Appreciate the realistic take, much better than some overly-positive reviews I've seen.
