St. Joseph's Uniform?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

I'm visiting @HongKong next month and my nephew's starting at St. Joseph's Anglo-Chinese Primary School. I've heard the school uniform is legendary...seriously, stories abound. Is it as ridiculously… more

Relax! It's not that bad. Yes, there are rules, but most parents are pretty chill about minor infractions. Think more "neat and tidy" than "military precision". The sock length thing is mostly a myth – they prefer ankle socks, but I've seen kids in slightly longer ones without issue. A missing button? Probably won't be a huge deal, but a spare might be a good idea anyway – just in case. Mostly they're focused on the overall appearance being presentable. Don't sweat the small stuff, you'll be fine. Pack a couple extra shirts and you're good to go.

Thanks! That's reassuring. I was stressing over the details. A couple extra shirts is a great tip, hadn't thought of that. Good to know they're not total sticklers about everything.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
