Finding the best hidden noodle stall near campus?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester for exchange. Everyone keeps raving about the amazing street food scene, but honestly, navigating a new city is overwhelming enough without g… more

Honestly, ditch the "best" hidden gem hunt. It's Hong Kong, not some mythical quest. Just wander around the areas near HKSYU. You'll stumble upon amazing noodle places. Look for places packed with locals, especially during lunch rushes. Ignore the shiny, touristy spots with English menus – those are usually overpriced and underwhelming. Trust your gut; if a place looks busy and smells incredible, go for it. You'll find plenty of delicious, authentic noodles without needing a map or a secret decoder ring. And hey, even if you end up at a "meh" place, at least you'll have a story to tell. Enjoy your semester!

That's great advice! I completely agree about skipping the whole "hidden gem" thing – it's totally unnecessary. I'll definitely check out the areas around HKSYU during lunchtime. The packed-with-locals tip is gold. Thanks for the realistic approach – I was starting to get a little overwhelmed by the idea of finding some super-secret noodle nirvana. I’m looking forward to trying some random spots and seeing what happens!

Yeah, Lion Rock's a beast! Totally get the humidity thing – felt like I was hiking in a sauna. For something less intense with good views, try the trails around Tai Mo Shan. It’s still a hike, but generally gentler inclines and less steep sections. The views from the top are also amazing, though a bit different from Lion Rock. Just be prepared for crowds – it’s a popular spot. And pack extra water, always. You’ll need it.
