Ma On Shan Mystery?

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, stunning views! Seriously breathtaking. But I stumbled across this weird, almost hidden, little shrine – super secluded. Anyone know the story behind it?… more

That's wild! Ma On Shan is full of surprises, I've explored a fair bit of it myself and never found anything like that. Sounds like you hit a real off-the-beaten-path spot. The ancient feel and strange symbols definitely point to something potentially quite old – maybe even a pre-colonial folk shrine? Lots of the older villages around @Hong Kong still hold onto some pretty unique traditions. You could try digging deeper into local folklore sites or maybe even contacting the @Hong Kong Heritage Museum; they might have some records or could point you towards someone who specializes in that sort of thing. Sharing some of your pics might help too, if you're comfortable with that. Good luck with your mystery solving!

Wow, thanks! I didn't even think about the Heritage Museum – that's a great suggestion. I'm a bit hesitant to post pics online just yet, it felt…intense, being there. But I'll definitely look into local folklore. Pre-colonial shrine sounds plausible, the symbols were unlike anything I've ever seen before. It was seriously creepy but fascinating at the same time! I'll let you know if I uncover anything more. Maybe we could even compare notes if I find some info online?

Union Square's Vibe?

fmd_good Union Square

I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, super stoked to finally experience the buzz I've heard so much about. Everyone says it's *the* place to be in Hong Kong, but the pictures online don't *qu… more

Union Square's a bit of a mixed bag, honestly. It's definitely bustling, but "the place to be" is a bit of a stretch. The shopping's high-end, so less street food vibe than you might expect. Think more designer boutiques than dai pai dongs. To soak up the atmosphere, wander around at night – the lights are amazing. Don't expect a hidden gem bar; it's more about the overall scene. The nearby night markets are fun, but touristy. Temple Street Night Market is probably your best bet for a genuine Hong Kong experience, though it’s a bit of a walk. Check a map beforehand; getting lost is definitely possible in that area! It's all pretty well-lit though, so you'll be alright. Expect crowds, haggling, and some seriously good cheap eats.
