Belfran Rd Mystery?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So I'm walking down Belfran Rd, right? Pretty quiet street, lots of those little shops you only find in older neighbourhoods. Anyway, I noticed this one house – number 17, I think – it had these cr… more

Sounds creepy! Belfran Road's got some interesting history, I've heard whispers. Number 17? Could be one of those old merchant houses, maybe even connected to some of the triad stuff from back in the day. Lots of those places are left empty, the owners moved on or died, leaving behind these...atmospheres. Honestly, don't go back at night. Hong Kong at night…it's a different beast altogether. You'll find yourself more freaked out than you are now. Stick to the daytime, and maybe try looking up the land registry records online for that address; see if that turns up anything. Could be completely innocent, but that level of detail on the door...yeah, I'd be a bit unnerved too.

PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the food court there is legendary...seriously, people rave about it. My question is: what's the absolute BEST… more

The food court's pretty vast, so it's tough to pinpoint the absolute best. But if you want to dodge the crowds and get something truly authentic, head to the smaller stalls tucked away – usually on the less trafficked levels. Look for places with mostly local students. They often have daily specials written in Chinese, which is a good sign. Don't be afraid to point and ask – many vendors speak some English, and even if they don't, a little charades goes a long way. You'll probably find some amazing noodle soups or rice dishes that aren't on any tourist menu. Just go with your gut – if the place is busy with students, it's probably good!
