Finding a decent, affordable lunch near campus?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester for exchange. Heard the food around the campus is... interesting. So many tiny little places, it's overwhelming! My friend who studied the… more

Check out the little cha chaan tengs near the MTR stations around HSU. They're usually packed with students, which is a good sign. Avoid the places with pictures of everything – those are often geared towards tourists and can be pricey. Look for places with menus mostly in Chinese, and don't be afraid to point at what other people are eating! You'll find decent, cheap eats that way. Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
