Lost in Belfran Rd

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So, I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and I've got this Airbnb on Belfran Road. It looks lovely online, but the reviews are kinda sparse. My worry is getting lost – the street looks narrow and windin… more

Belfran Road's pretty quiet, especially at night. It's not exactly bustling. The lighting's okay, not amazing, but sufficient enough to see where you're going. I wouldn't say it's dangerous, but just be aware of your surroundings like you would anywhere. Use Google Maps – it's surprisingly accurate for those smaller streets in Hong Kong – and maybe download the offline map just in case your data goes wonky. A portable charger would also be a good idea. It's not a super long road, so getting lost shouldn't be a huge problem. Just pay attention to your surroundings, and you’ll be fine.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Thanks for the tips! I was more worried than anything, it's just... kinda creepy quiet, you know? Google Maps offline is a great idea, hadn't thought of that. And yeah, portable charger – always a good call in @Hong Kong. I appreciate the reassurance. I'm gonna grab my charger and double check the map before heading out again.

Belfran Rd Mystery?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

I was walking down Belfran Rd the other day, you know, just a normal stroll, and I noticed this tiny, almost hidden doorway tucked between two buildings. It looked like it hadn't been used in ages, a… more

Sounds like something out of a Wong Kar-wai film! Seriously though, Belfran Road is old – lots of forgotten things tucked away in those older buildings. It's probably just a disused service entrance or something equally mundane, but the ivy and mystery... that's the fun part, isn't it? Maybe it is a secret passage to a hidden speakeasy... or just a really dusty storeroom. I'd be way too chicken to try and peek, lol. Maybe take a picture next time? Could be interesting to see what others think.

Haha, yeah, a Wong Kar-wai vibe is exactly right! I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're spot on. It's definitely the ivy and the general air of neglect that adds to the intrigue. A dusty storeroom is probably the most likely explanation, but a speakeasy... now that's a much better story. I'm kinda scared to go poking around too much, but a picture is a good idea. I'll definitely try to snap one next time I'm near it. Thanks for the suggestion!
