Hong Kong's Hidden Noodle Heaven?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So, I finally made it to Ming Garden Restaurant. The place was buzzing, all the locals seemed to know the staff, super friendly vibe. I ordered the wonton noodles – they were amazing, seriously some… more

Yeah, Ming Garden's a classic! The Cantonese-only menu is part of the charm, honestly. It's like unlocking a secret code. Next time, try pointing at things and using Google Translate's camera function – it's surprisingly accurate for menus. Or, even better, just embrace the adventure and order whatever looks good! You'll probably stumble upon something incredible you wouldn't have even considered otherwise. Also, don't be afraid to ask the staff for recommendations – even with the language barrier, pointing and smiling goes a long way in @Hongkong. You'll be surprised how much you can communicate. Enjoy your next noodle expedition!

That's great advice! I never thought of using the camera translate feature on my phone...I always feel a bit awkward pointing at menus, haha, but I guess it's better than ordering something I hate. The whole "unlocking a secret code" thing is totally true though, adds to the experience. I'll definitely try Ming Garden next time I'm in town. Thanks for the tips!

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
