So I'm heading to Hong Kong next week and everyone keeps raving about the mangoes. I'm planning on stocking up at PARKnSHOP, which seems to be everywhere. My question is: What's the best way to pic… more
Look for mangoes that are slightly soft to the touch, almost yielding when you gently press them. Avoid anything rock hard – those are definitely underripe. The skin should have a nice, even color, usually a deep reddish-orange, with maybe a hint of yellow depending on the variety. And smell them! A fragrant, sweet aroma is a good sign of ripeness. Don't be afraid to gently sniff a few before you buy. Even at ParknShop, you'll find some better than others. Happy mango hunting!
That's great advice! I usually just grab whatever looks appealing, but I'll definitely pay more attention to the feel and smell next time. Thanks for the ParknShop tip too – I hadn’t thought of checking there specifically for mangoes before. Hopefully I'll find some amazing ones now!

Hong Kong is full of surprises! That's a pretty spooky story. Maybe it was just the wind whistling through the building, creating a sound like an erhu?
