Mid-Levels Mystery?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central in a few weeks, spent ages looking at photos – it's stunning. I'm planning on hiking up from Central – heard the views are insane. But everyone's photos seem t… more

Embrace the getting lost! Seriously. Half the fun of hiking up Mid-Levels is the unexpected discoveries. Don't stress about finding every chic cafe; just wander, and you'll stumble across gems. Look for little alleyways branching off the main paths – that's where the magic happens. Check Instagram for cafes near the trails you'll be on before you go, maybe save a few locations, but don't over plan. You'll probably find even better ones than what you see online, trust me. And if you do get lost? It's Hong Kong, you'll be fine. Plenty of people around to ask for directions. Just enjoy the journey.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
