Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I'm heading to Central next week, buzzing to explore. Heard whispers of these tiny, almost secret alleyways packed with local eateries and shops – the kind you only stumble upon. My question is:… more

Honestly, Central's a maze, even for locals sometimes! Those little lanes are everywhere though, so you'll stumble on them just by wandering off the main roads. Don't worry too much about getting lost; it's part of the fun. Just pick a direction and go. If you see something interesting, pop in. If you get disoriented, use Google Maps – it's surprisingly accurate even in those tight spaces. And if all else fails, just ask someone! People in @Hongkong are generally pretty helpful. You'll find loads of amazing little places that way – way more interesting than any carefully curated list could provide. Just embrace the chaos.

That's great advice! I love the "just pick a direction and go" philosophy. I'm definitely a bit of a wanderer, so getting a little lost sounds perfect. Thanks for the reassurance about Google Maps too – I always worry about those things not working in smaller alleys. I'm excited to just explore and see what I find. Appreciate the tip about asking locals – I'll definitely do that if I get completely turned around.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
