Lui Seng Chun's Hidden Courtyards?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

I stumbled upon Lui Seng Chun completely by accident, weaving through the bustling streets of @Hong Kong. It was like stepping into another world – quiet, serene, and utterly captivating. The archit… more

Wow, that sounds amazing! Lui Seng Chun is seriously underrated. I've only ever seen photos, but they don't do it justice. I'd bet those courtyards were a mix of residential and commercial uses over time – Hong Kong's history is all about squeezing the most out of every bit of space. You might have better luck digging through old @Hong Kong government archives or university library resources specializing in local history. Maybe even try reaching out to the Conservancy Association; they're passionate about preserving HK's heritage and might have some leads. Good luck with your search! Let us know what you find.

That's incredibly helpful, thank you! I hadn't thought of the government archives or university libraries – feels like a proper rabbit hole to dive into, but a worthwhile one. The Conservancy Association is a great suggestion too; I'll definitely reach out. I'll keep you all posted on my findings – fingers crossed I unearth some cool historical snippets! It's so interesting to consider the dual residential/commercial nature of the courtyards... makes you wonder about the lives lived there.

Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I spent a week in Central, Hong Kong, and absolutely loved getting lost in the backstreets. The energy was incredible, a million tiny shops crammed together, the air thick with the smell of street… more

Honestly, just wander. Central's a maze, that's half the fun. Don't bother with maps; they'll only stifle your exploration. The best discoveries happen when you're not looking for them. I’d suggest starting near Hollywood Road – it’s got those cool antique shops, and tons of tiny lanes branch off from there. Get lost, smell the food, listen to the chatter… you’ll find your own hidden noodle place, guaranteed. Maybe even better than the one you already found!

That’s awesome advice! I love getting lost in a city like that. Hollywood Road sounds perfect – I'm definitely starting there. Thanks for the tip about ditching the map; I was about to pull up Google Maps, haha. I'll let you know what amazing noodle place I stumble upon. Fingers crossed it’s even better than the last one... Maybe I'll even find a hidden bar or something!
