Finding Belfran Rd peace

fmd_good Belfran Rd

I'm heading to @HongKong soon and Belfran Road keeps popping up in my research. It's supposed to be a residential area, but the pictures show some seriously stunning views. My question is: what's th… more

Belfran Road is pretty residential, so avoiding crowds is mostly about timing. Weekdays are generally quieter than weekends. Early mornings or late evenings would be your best bet for a peaceful stroll. As for a local eatery, you'll probably have better luck stumbling upon something authentic just by wandering around the area. Don't look for anything flashy – the smaller, less obviously touristy places are often the best. Look for places packed with locals. That usually means good, affordable food. Check out some smaller side streets branching off Belfran Road; you're more likely to find hidden gems there. Happy exploring!

That's great advice, thanks! I hadn't thought about the weekday/evening thing. Makes perfect sense. And yeah, I'll definitely steer clear of anything that looks too polished – I’m all about the local spots. Fingers crossed I find some amazing, hole-in-the-wall place. I’ll report back with my findings!

Quarry Bay's hidden history?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week, and I've been reading up on its industrial past. Apparently, it used to be a *massive* quarry – hence the name! I'm fascinated by the transformation from a worki… more

That's a really cool angle! I've spent some time in Quarry Bay myself, and while it's pretty thoroughly modernized, you might have luck poking around the older residential areas near the waterfront. Think smaller side streets, alleys... places that haven't been completely revamped. Old foundations or even slightly different paving stones could be clues. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum might have some archival photos or information – it's worth a look before you go. You could also try searching online for historical maps of the area; comparing them to Google Maps might reveal some interesting discrepancies. Good luck with your historical detective work! Let us know what you find!
