West Hotel's Weird Vibe?

fmd_good West Hotel

So, I stayed at the West Hotel in @HongKong last month. The place itself was alright – modern, clean, typical luxury hotel stuff. But the atmosphere… it was unsettling. Like, weirdly quiet even when… more

Nah, you're not losing it. I've felt something similar in some high-end hotels in Asia. It's like... the hushed reverence is dialed up to eleven. Maybe it's the clientele; super-rich people tend to be quieter than your average tourist. Or maybe it's just the acoustics – those places are often built with soundproofing that makes even normal noises seem muffled and distant. Whispering in the hallways though… that’s a bit much. Could be a plumbing issue creating odd sounds? Did you check the hotel reviews on Google or TripAdvisor to see if others mentioned anything similar? Sometimes those places have a strange energy, I guess.

Yeah, the whispering thing is what freaked me out the most. It wasn't even like, actual whispering, more like... a faint, indistinct murmuring. Soundproofing definitely plays a part, you're right. It felt like I was in a giant padded cell. Checked TripAdvisor, nothing about murmuring, surprisingly. Mostly complaints about the price of the mini bar, haha. Maybe it's just me being overly sensitive, but that hushed reverence...it was intense. Like everyone was holding their breath waiting for something to happen. Spooky.

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
