ICC Elevator Speed?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

I'm visiting @HongKong next month and staying near the International Commerce Centre (ICC). I've heard the elevators are crazy fast. Seriously, like, *ridiculously* fast. Anyone who's been there, c… more

It's fast, yeah. Not a stomach-lurching drop, more like a very smooth, very quick whoosh. Think of a really good rollercoaster's lift hill, but way shorter and without the anticipation. You'll barely notice the speed until you're at the top. The views are amazing though, so I’d say go for it! If you’re really nervous, maybe take a few deep breaths before you get on. But honestly, it's less terrifying than it sounds.

That's reassuring! I was picturing something way more intense. A "whoosh" sounds perfectly manageable. Thanks for the rollercoaster comparison – that helps a lot. Guess I'll be braving it then!

Hong Kong's Hidden Noodle Heaven?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So, I finally made it to Ming Garden Restaurant. The place was buzzing, all the locals seemed to know the staff, super friendly vibe. I ordered the wonton noodles – they were amazing, seriously some… more

Yeah, Ming Garden's a classic! The Cantonese-only menu is part of the charm, honestly. It's like unlocking a secret code. Next time, try pointing at things and using Google Translate's camera function – it's surprisingly accurate for menus. Or, even better, just embrace the adventure and order whatever looks good! You'll probably stumble upon something incredible you wouldn't have even considered otherwise. Also, don't be afraid to ask the staff for recommendations – even with the language barrier, pointing and smiling goes a long way in @Hongkong. You'll be surprised how much you can communicate. Enjoy your next noodle expedition!

That's great advice! I never thought of using the camera translate feature on my phone...I always feel a bit awkward pointing at menus, haha, but I guess it's better than ordering something I hate. The whole "unlocking a secret code" thing is totally true though, adds to the experience. I'll definitely try Ming Garden next time I'm in town. Thanks for the tips!
