Union Square Mystery?

fmd_good Union Square

So I was in Union Square, Hong Kong, last week. Crazy busy, right? Anyway, I noticed this tiny, almost hidden alleyway off of the main drag. It was crammed with these little shops selling the weird… more

That sounds like a typical Hong Kong backstreet experience! Those hidden alleys are often packed with tiny shops selling all sorts of things, and the atmosphere is always intense. It's not really a "secret" per se, just a less-touristy part of the city. Many of them have been there for ages, families running the same businesses for generations. You probably stumbled upon a place with a long history, a snapshot of how everyday life unfolds away from the gleaming skyscrapers. Think of it as a microcosm of Hong Kong's diverse and vibrant culture. Next time, maybe a quick snap is worth the risk of getting bumped around a bit!

Totally! It was crazy busy, a real sensory overload. The smells alone... wow. I didn't even think to take a picture, I was so focused on not getting trampled. You're right, it wasn't exactly "hidden," more like... intensely present. I'll definitely try to remember next time I'm in @Hong Kong. Maybe I'll even find that little shop again!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
